D-Day Anniversary
Market Place between 9am and 5pm.
There will be:
- Military vehicles on display
- A talk at 2 noon from Kevin Lenton regarding his father’s experience on the day
- Poppy Appeal stand, with a limited edition 80th Anniversary D Day pin badges on sale.
- Elusive Brewery selling their limited-edition Beacons Pale Ale in recognition of the beacons that are to be lit on the 5 French beaches on the 6th 50p from each sale will go to The Royal British Legion
- At 10.45am a wreath will be laid by Military Veteran John Patey and Wokingham Town Mayor Rob Comber at the Wokingham War Memorial inside the Town Hall
- Barkham Hookers with crochet poppies
- Raffle with prizes from Nuffield Health
The Wokingham branch of The Royal British Legion will be collecting and selling limited edition pin badges between 9am to 5pm at 6 sites across the town to represent the 5 French beaches and the famous bridge involved in the D-Day landings:
- Sainsburys, Winnersh – Utah
- Tesco, Wokingham – Juno
- Morrisons, Woosehill – Sword
- Waitrose, Wokingham – Omaha
- Wokingham Market Place – Gold
- Nationwide Building Society, Broad St, Wokingham – Pegasus
