Lunar New Year Celebration

Wokingham will once again be celebrating Lunar New Year on Sunday 9th February
The lion dance, one of the most important traditions at Chinese New Year, will be performed in the heart of the town alongside music, arts and crafts, and there’ll be a delicious selection of street food on offer on the day.

In Chinese culture, the lion symbolizes power, wisdom, and superiority. Their presence reported to bring good fortune and chase away evil spirits.
On the stage
Timings (subject to change) for the day are:
11am: Local Canto pop band 852X
12 noon and 2pm: We’ll be joined by the Pak-Mei UK Lion Dance Troupe who will be performing the renowned and spectacular Lion Dance
12:45pm: Singing and Cantonese workshop with HKR singers
1:15pm: Hong Kong Reading Singers and Hong Kong Reading Junior Singers.
All performances are between 20 and 30 minutes in duration
There will be FREE parking in Wokingham Borough Council car parks on the day too.
